But would still pretty much guarantee an 11+ million admissions total, heh.

Well, at least Monday & Tuesday are very good let's-go-to-the-movies-days in Southern Germany... So the weekly drop should be smaller...

Heh, I wonder why...
Here Monday is probably the worst moviegoing day of the year. Well, maybe 3rd-worst (behind New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve)

Well, ZEITEN ÄNDERN DICH is dropping like a stone, I don't expect it to be in the 6 digits anymore... (so we're down to 8 movies)

I thought so. When I went to my theatre Friday night, there were over 300 tickets sold for it. When I wass there Tuesday night, it sold around 45 tickets.

I hope your first estimates are all too low (except Percy Jackson, that'd fit my prediction well).

I hope so too (but I would like PERCY to rise as well)

Yep, 4-day weekends...
With 375,000 AVATAR should be at 8.71m admissions by Sunday - just enough to pass IA3...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Avatar #1
Weekend Estimates:
AVATAR fends off all newcomers and stays No. 1 for a 9th week with 395,000 admissions. New total is 8.73m admissions, surpassing IA3 to become the most seen movie of 2009...
In Euros AVATAR (€87m) is now the third biggest grosser of all-time behind JUNGLE BOOK (€99m) and TITANIC (€119m)

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Avatar #1
Weekend estimates:
1. Avatar - 395,000 (-27.7%)
2. Valentine's Day - 325,000
3. Percy Jackson and the Olympians - 250,000
4. Sherlock Holmes - 185,000 (-44.6%)
5. Recep Ivedik 3 - 150,000
6. The Wolfman - 120,000
7. Up in the Air - 115,000 (-35%)
Solid weekend overall but it faced many obstacles. It was really REALLY snowy in many parts of Germany and around the area where I live we had the biggest local festivities of the year...people barely go to the movies during those days.
I hope that means good holds next weekend. I see a sub-20% drop for Avatar again then.

Nice this was the only weekend where I saw that any of these movies could have overtaken Avatar in Germany. With this weekend sealed I think so next weekend should be another tough competition but the most it can do is fall to #2 if Shutter Island breaks out
Hey is Shutter Island releasing in Germany next weekend ?

Nope, the weekend after.
This is why I'm thinking that Avatar is very likely to win its 10th weekend as well.
Though it needs 16 to beat Titanic's streak and that's not happening. The very maximum is 11 and that only if Shutter Island disappoints here.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Avatar #1
So Avatar will face Shutter Island and then Alice back to back.
How is the theater market in terms of 3D screens in Germany? Will they be able to hold 2 movies in 3D at the same time ?

The big cities yes...
There are about 350-400 3D screens right now - that number could go up to 500 when DRAGON opens...

2/3 - the good news is however that the ones AVATAR will keep will be in high grossing theaters in big cities...
